“If you don't like something, change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude”

Many of us put up with too many things that we do not want or need to, and just complain about it. This is true in our business dealings, relationships, and life in general. Is it because it takes discomfort and effort on our part to make something change or is it because of fear? What unnecessary obstacles do we leave in front of us and whine about that prevent or delay our true success?
In many cases the reason is that we would really like for someone else to do the change work instead of us. Boy, wouldn’t that be easier all around?? But hope is not a strategy, a plan to action is!
Maybe the boss does not give you the respect or appreciation that you deserve for your efforts. This is not something you are required to accept. Of course, standing up for yourself carries with it the risk and fear of speaking your mind and of potentially suffering further consequences. Or at least you are afraid of that. But the importance of preserving your self-respect and professional dignity might be the more valuable choice, or you might actually change the boss!
There are certainly things that we cannot change, like the weather or our ancestry. But if you really, really dig deeply, maybe there are things you could change to lessen the impact of those things. And if not, certainly finding a way to turn those things into a positive is not a huge stretch – there is almost always a way.
What attitude adjustment do you need to make for that which is out of your control? What do you see now that is actually in your control and you can do something about to affect success?
