Spring!

Spring is about to arrive, in full force and bloom!  I already see the sprouts of flowers and hear the singing of birds all around.   Few autumns and winters have ever been darker or longer than those we are about to emerge from.  But the wonder, hope and renewal of the spring and the opportunities it brings are now upon us.

For those that were impacted by loss or illness in this past year the darkness will linger longer.  A version of spring will start to come, at some point in the future, with its hope and space for renewal and for the energy to grow again.  But in its time.

Spring this year brings with it the story of a special person I know, who some call “The Flower Lady.”  Every year the Flower Lady puts together lovely, small flower arrangements from her yard and places them on a table in front of her house for those that walk or drive by.  She puts a token price, maybe a dollar or two, on each one to help cover a fraction of her costs.  A tiny contribution for such a wonderful expression of her caring and sharing of the beauty of nature from her yard.

One day recently a stranger left a different kind of contribution for the Flower Lady.  Someone had prepared a photo book of her flower arrangements from the past and mailed this to her as a special surprise.  This unexpected generosity and lovely encouragement at this particular time moved the Flower Lady to tears!

This photo book was evidence again that doing small, steady, consistent acts founded in purpose lead to successes that we cannot even imagine!  While it is not the reason for or expectation of why we do these acts, they do though reflect back the energy and effort that we put out in our own personal vision of what is meaningful and beautiful. 

This story helps me ponder every day about the things I want to do with my own energy, and helps me recognize the returns that people receive in so many ways for their own energetic journeys.  Best wishes to all for a spring of great growth and wonder in 2021!
