500 Days
At this time of year, it is common to look back and consider what we have achieved, or what has transpired in the recent past. As I look back this year, I cannot stop thinking about the number five hundred, and in particular five hundred days. It is approximately five hundred days since we moved almost eight hundred miles to our new home in Southeastern Connecticut and began our new life.
Among other things that means over a thousand miles of near daily walks along a wonderful shoreline along the Long Island Sound. Clearly not every day was full of bright sunshine, but many of those walks were under an inspiring sunrise or spectacular sunset. All of them helped center me with peace and hope and keep me on track or get me back on track when I was off.
So many of those days were filled with exploration and discovery of this spectacular area. Beautiful beaches and coastlines, great historic towns and villages, amazing seafood and other great restaurants, incredible centuries old history. So much, and half of that time was under some type of quarantine limitation.
Meeting, greeting, and befriending so many wonderful new people in our new community has been a major focus and impact as well. And family members that are close by, which is the main reason we moved, have filled our days and nights with companionship and care. We have grown immensely in our business, professional and personal lives.
There have been few more impactful five hundred day stretches in my life, I believe. Also, I am grateful that these five hundred days have shown us over and over that this is the right place for us to be.
I am so thankful for the places and people who have helped along the way and allowed us to share this special journey. Whatever role you played along this path, thank you. I cannot wait for the next five hundred days!!
