2021 is more than half done!
I flipped the calendar page a couple of weeks ago and nearly fell off my chair. “2021 is Half Done” I kept saying to myself and then to colleagues, friends, and family. How can that be? Where is this time going? Clearly there is a post pandemic effect, as now that we are busy getting out and about again, the slow tick of the clock from last year is a distant memory. Time slowed last year and is now running triple speed!
I reflected on the goals I set for myself for this year – how am I doing? What do I need to adjust? In order to finish the year where I want to be, what must I stop? What shall I start? What is going well that I want to continue and, in fact, accelerate?
I pass by the yards filled with patio furniture and wonder how often this summer will they be used? Will we remember to stop and smell the roses this year as we work toward returning to a life without restrictions to activities and location? My hope is that we remember the things from last year that went well, and keep them in our businesses, careers, and personal lives.
My wish is we also spend extra time this year focusing on those things that we had prior to 2020 that we do not need anymore. This would include a 9 to 5, in the office presence, for example. We have proven over and over again that business and life can work with a more flexible approach than we previously and artificially created.
The remainder of 2021 is jammed full of opportunity and possibility. We are sure to experience things in that yet unlived part of the year that we do not expect now. We have all learned that agility is the key in all that we do. Let’s continue to strive for the best in all that we have to do and be ready to quickly adjust as the realities of our world unfold.
And before we know it, we will be ready for a “new 2022!!”
